Why is the application email important?
The cover email is the first impression the hiring manager gets of you. A carefully written email makes you look professional and greatly increases the chance of the attached CV file being opened.
Elements of a Successful Email
- Subject Line: It must be clear and direct. Example: “Job Application: Software Engineer - [your full name]”.
- Salutation: Always try to address the email to a specific person (HR manager or department manager) if you know their name.
- Introduction: Clearly state the job you are applying for and how you heard about it.
- Body body: Summarize in two to three lines your skills that match the job requirements and why you are the candidate. Best.
- Conclusion: Point out that your resume is attached, and kindly ask them to review it and schedule an interview.
